Freshmen Year

My best memory from my freshmen year of high school is going to prom. It was a great experiencfe and I had a lot of fun. The most important thing I learned this year was to stay true to who you are. I also learned that if you want to achieve something you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone and really try. If I could give a freshman three pieces of advice for next year I would tell them  first, be friends with everyone no matter who they are. Second I would tell them to try their best. No matter how much you don't want to do your homework or study you really need to. The last piece of advice for freshmen next year is get involved in something. Being part of a group or team is probably the best thing you can do in high school.

"You Learn Something New Everyday"

When you are a child your parents always say "You learn something new everyday". In The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman that statement became true for me. While I was reading the novel I learned that once the slaves were free it wasn't just a big celebration. When I imagined this I imagined the slaves celebrating and moving on with their lives. I did not think about how they would survive on their own and move to new places. In the novel it talks about  how they moved to new places, like Jane, and some people decided to stay. I had never considered the fact that some of the people would want to stay and work on the plantations they had lived on. I guess my parents were right about learning something new!

True or False?

A stereotype is a assumption about a group of people. In The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman there are many sterotypes by the color of peoples skin. The God fearing Christian woman was a white person that hated blacks. This is a stereotype that all white people hate blacks. To prove that this is false Gaines showed us a character that was helpful to Jane and Nate. His name was Job. Job was a white man that gave them a place to stay, food to eat, and somewhere to work. This proves that the stereotype of all white people hated black people is false.

Say Yes to the Dress

Everyone should go watch my favorite television show called Say Yes to the Dress. Everyone should watch it because it shows people what it's like when you are wedding dress shopping. Some people think that weddings are all easy and fun, but this show shows that Weddings are not all fun and games. Even the simpliest things, like picking out a dress, can be very difficult.
